This handmade four-volume book documents the geological origins and evolutionary history of the Falkland Islands. Seen as a whole, the project is an inquiry into how the ongoing process of landmine clearance from the 1982 Falklands War can be a catalyst to probe deep time and question geopolitical motives and scientific objectivity. The project is the outcome of several years worth of intensive archival research of obscure maps and long-forgotten travel accounts, as well as visiting the islands themselves and understanding the process of landmine clearance.
The project was funded through a grant from Harvard University and resides in Harvard Library's Special Collections ad infinitum. All materials used in the book are of archival quality.
